Crowd of 1,000 turns out for Jets practice

WINNIPEG -- How much does Winnipeg love its Jets?
Estimates were that about 1,000 of them drove all the way out to the MTS IcePlex this morning to watch their NHL team engage in an optional skate.
For about 300 spots in the practice arena, fans lined up inside the building, and outside into the glorious summer-like, late-winter day, all the way back into a parking lot for a spot to watch the Jets go through their paces.
The team was coming off an important 3-2 win over the Washington Capitals on Friday night, keeping them in the NHL’s Eastern Conference playoff hunt. The Jets trail eighth-place Washington by two points and will face the Carolina Hurricanes here on Sunday night.
Jets coach Claude Noel said this morning that defenceman Zach Bogosian, who has missed the last five games with a lower-body injury, is likely a player Sunday night against the Canes.
Not likely in the lineup Sunday is right-winger Eric Fehr, who has an upper-body injury that is not a recurrence of the shoulder problem that kept him out of the first seven weeks of the regular season.
