Customers disarm knife-wielding robber after clerk injured

Two customers came to the rescue of a gas bar attendant and disarmed a knife-wielding robber on Monday.

A woman entered a gas bar in the 1400 block of Inkster Boulevard at about 6:45 a.m. and confronted the clerk with a knife, police said.

A fight broke out between them and the clerk suffered a non-life threatening injury.

Police said the two customers were able to get the knife away from the woman.

Tamara Traverse, 38, has been charged with robbery with a weapon and failing to comply with a recognizance.

Traverse has been detained in custody.
