Cyclist killed in Higgins Avenue crash

A 35-year-old cyclist was killed in central Winnipeg Wednesday morning when she collided with a vehicle and fell into the path of a semi-trailer.
Police said the woman on the bicycle and a vehicle collided while both were travelling westbound on Higgins Avenue just west of Main Street around 11 a.m.
The collision caused the cyclist to fall into the path of a semi-trailer that was also headed west.
The driver of the first vehicle remained on the scene, but the truck's driver was unaware of the incident and continued westbound. Investigators have since located the semi and driver.
The cyclist's family has been notified of her death. Her name will not be release, dpolice said.
Higgins Avenue was closed between King and Main streets for most of the afternoon, but has since reopened to traffic.
Police said their investigation is ongoing. Investigators have not said if anyone will face charges.
