Daycare provider charged with abandonment

  • Print

A 33-year-old Winnipeg home daycare provider has been charged with child abandonment after six children, between ages one and five, were allegedly left alone for at least one hour Tuesday.

Police said today they were called to the home daycare in St. Vital after a parent arrived to pick up a child around 2 p.m. and found the six kids alone.

This was an unlicensed daycare and is "no longer operational," police say.

The woman was released on a promise to appear in court at a later date. Her name was not released by police.
