WINNIPEG - Winnipeggers wanting to buy the new iPhone 4 began to gather outside the Polo Park Shopping Centre — home to the city’s only Apple Store — starting this morning at 1 a.m.
"There were probably about 15 people there," said mall marketing director Sandra Hagenaars today. "They were lined up by the Ness Avenue entrance — you can see the store right ahead of you from there."
By the time the mall let customers enter at 6 a.m. -- an hour before the doors normally open -- about 240 people were waiting in a line that stretched to the corner of the mall's Sears store, Hagenaars said.
At noon, there was still a line up outside the Apple Store.
"They are all very well-behaved, polite and quiet people," Hagenaars said. "Apple was letting limited numbers in so they can properly serve them."
