Dragon boats return to the water

THE dragons are coming.

More than 115 teams of dragon boat racers will descend on Lake Shirley Water Park this weekend to paddle their way to glory, and all for a good cause.

The FMG Dragon Boat Festival is a partnership between CancerCare Manitoba Foundation and The Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba designed to raise money to benefit pediatric cancer programs, including clinical trials.

The races are scheduled to take place at Lake Shirley Water Ski Park at 365 Murdock Road in South Transcona on Friday from 4-9 p.m., Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sept. 9, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The festival will feature food, live entertainment, kids’ activities, and vendors throughout the weekend.
