Dream Factory lands $16-K donation from lottery winners

Lottery winners Kirby and Marie Fontaine are having fun giving away their fortune, this time to Dream Factory, which caters to kids fighting life-threatening disease.

The Sagkeeng couple, who won $50 million in the Lotto Max lottery in 2009, made the $16,000 donation on New Year's Eve. It follows on the heels of their $50,000 donation to the Christmas Cheer Board to help cover the board's seasonal deficit.

The Dream Factory is a charitable group that helps fulfill the dreams of kids battling potentially fatal disease.

"We were totally thrilled to receive the phone call on New Year’s Eve from Kirby and Marie," said Grace Thomson, Executive Director for The Dream Factory, in a press release. "It is absolutely heartwarming to be the recipient of such generosity. Kirby and Marie Fontaine should be proud of the difference they are making in the community."

The Fontaines are also believed to have made contributions to Winnipeg Harvest and Siloam Mission, among other local organization, over the holiday season.
