Driver in hospital after car collides with semi truck

Winnipeg police continue to investigate a collision this morning on Panet Road that sent the driver of a car to hospital in critical condition.

Police said the collision occurred at about 8:45 a.m. in the 200 block of Panet Road.

A car had become wedged underneath a semi truck.

The driver of the car, a 61-year-old woman, was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Police said initial reports indicate the semi was stopped at the time of the collision and its 39-year-old driver was in the process of reversing into the loading dock of a nearby business.

The semi driver was not injured.

The investigation prompted the closure of the nearby CN Rail line for a short time this morning.
