Woman injured, man charged with drunk driving in East St. Paul
A 22-year-old man faces drunk-driving charges following a collision on Henderson Highway this morning.
East St. Paul RCMP were dispatched to what was reported as a hit-and-run on Henderson Highway near the East St. Paul Curling Club shortly before 2:30 a.m.
Officers found a van with extensive damage on one side, and a bleeding 33-year-old woman in urgent need of medical care.
She was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the van was examined by Emergency Medical Services responders at the scene. He suffered minor injuries and appeared to be impaired, police said.
The van driver was arrested for impaired driving and taken into police custody. He has since been released and will face charges for impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, refusal to provide breath samples and driving with an invalid driver's licence.
