Emergency room wait times now online

  • Print

The Winnipeg Regional Healthy Authority has started posting emergency room wait times online.

The list of current wait times at seven city hospitals is at http://www.wrha.mb.ca/wait-times/

The WRHA says it wants to share the wait time information with the public so they can decide where they need to go to get the care they need with minimum wait.

The health authority also says the posted wait times can change without warning and are not guaranteed. Patients will be seen in the ER based on their medical condition.

"Emergency demands can change quickly and dramatically," the WHRA says in a disclaimer on the website.

"Due to these changing demands in emergency departments, these wait times posted on this website may not be the time you will need to wait once you arrive at the emergency department. The provision of the wait times on the website are not medical advice or a recommendation of one emergency department over another."
