The collection issues that plagued embattled waste firm Emterra appear to be resolved, senior civic officials said this morning.

Diane Sacher, director of water and waste, said a formal report on Emterra operations will not be completed until February but she added the problems that followed the company earlier in the year appear to be resolved.

Public works chair Coun. Dan Vandal said residents now appear satisfied with the collection service from Emterra.

Emterra was dogged with collection problems in May and June.

Sacher told reporters the company’s problems in the spring were the result of lingering maintenance issues that first arose during the winter, which resulted in late collection service.
