Approximately 80 employees of waste-management company Emterra have joined the union representing most of the City of Winnipeg's workers.

Inside workers at Emterra's Henry Avenue facility have joined the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 500, president Mike Davidson said Monday.

CUPE 500 represents approximately 5,000 workers, the vast majority them employed directly by the city.

Emterra is a city waste-management contractor. Their outside workers have not joined CUPE 500.
