Epitaph signs Propagandhi
Propagandhi will release its new album, Failed States, on Epitaph Records in September
Local politically charged thrash-punk quartet Propagandhi has signed to Epitaph Records.
The major Los Angeles-based independent label will release the band’s new album, Failed States, on Sept. 4. The album is the followup to 2009’s Supporting Caste, released on the band’s own imprint, G7 Welcoming Committee Records.
Failed States will be the band’s sixth full-length album since 1993.
The band — Chris Hannah, Jord Samolesky, Todd Kowalski and David Guillas — has previous experience dealing with a major independent punk label: its first four albums were released on Fat Wreck Chords, run by Fat Mike of SoCal punk band NOFX.
The band has posted a link to a stream of the album’s title track at its website, propagandhi.com, along with dates for the first two legs of a North American tour. A local show wasn’t announced.
Epitaph was founded in 1980 by Bad Religion’s Brett Gurewitz and has released albums by the likes of NOFX, Rancid, the Offspring, SNFU and Pennywise. Its subsidiary label, Anti, has released music by Tom Waits, Neko Case and Winnipeg indie-rock group the Weakerthans.
