  • Print

A suspected drug dealer has learned the folly of driving around town in a car with expired licence plates.

Winnipeg Police said officers were patrolling near the intersection of Salter Street and Pritchard Avenue at about 10:40 a.m. Monday when they spotted a vehicle being driven with "inactive" licence plates.

Police say that when they pulled over the driver, they discovered his driver’s licence also was suspended.

A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up 10 individually packed syringes,  about 45 grams of methamphetaminewith an estimated street value of $13,410, other drug-related paraphernalia, and numerous pieces of identification that did not belong to the driver.

A 37-year-old man is now facing a variety of charges, including possessing a substance for the purpose of trafficking, obtaining or possessing someone else’s identity information, and a number of Highway Traffic Act offences.
