Extras needed for Jack Layton biopic

You can be part of history, or at least a big screen version of history, if you volunteer to be a member of the crowd that cheered Jack Layton the night the NDP Party became Canada’s official opposition for the first time.

The bio-pic Smilin’ Jack: The Jack Layton Story is currently shooting in Winnipeg and the Pier 21 Films/Eagle Vision Inc. production is looking for volunteer extras to be part of the scene where Layton walks onto the stage of the Toronto Convention Centre where he is greeted by his exuberant supporters celebrating the NDP’s historic national election breakthrough.

The scene will be shot on Tuesday from 4-10 p.m. at the Centennial Concert Hall (enter through the main doors on Main Street). Volunteers must be at least 18 and dressed in business casual attire (men in dress shirts, sport shirts, ties, sweater vests, khakis, etc./women in two-piece suits, dress pants, dress skirts, blouses, sweaters, etc.); colours can be orange, neutrals, grey, tan or brown. Do not show up in jeans or colours such as black, red and white.

To register as a volunteer extra please email: thejacklaytonstory@gmail.com or leave a message at 204-944-4951.
