Fans commit to buying 1,870 season tickets on first day of drive
WINNIPEG - True North Sports and Entertainment issued its first daily season-ticket update for Winnipeg's new NHL team this afternoon, putting 1,870 sales in the bank in the first 3.5 hours of the "Drive to 13" campaign.
TNSE said that only two of its eight designated pre-sale categories had been activated today, but still came up with that healthy first step.
NHL tickets for the MTS Centre starting this fall went on sale at www.driveto13.com at 1 p.m. today.
Only current Manitoba Moose season ticket holders and mini-pack holders and other corporate clients have first crack at the "pre-sale."
The general public's first opportunity to buy NHL tickets will be Saturday at noon.
TNSE says it needs 13,000 season tickets by June 21 to show the NHL's board of governors a high level of confidence to approve the sale and relocation of the Atlanta Thrashers. The NHL's owners will vote on those transactions that day.
