Father, daughter seriously injured in ATV crash

  • Print

A father and his young daughter were transported to a Winnipeg hospital with serious injuries after their ATV rolled on Center Street in Mitchell at about 6:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The 41-year-old driver and his seven-year-old daughter, a passenger on board, were first transported to Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, but "due to the severity of their injuries," they were transferred to Winnipeg, police said.

The investigation continues, but so far, it suggests the two were driving on Center Street when the father lost control of the ATV and it rolled into the ditch, said RCMP spokeswoman Sgt. Line Karpish, in a release.

Alcohol has not been ruled out as a contributing factor to this collision, she said, adding helmets are mandatory when riding ATVs which cannot be operated on roadways.
