Fire sends Norway House resident to hospital

A Norway House man is in stable condition after being trapped inside a burning house early this morning.

Norway House RCMP said the 25-year-old man was rescued by the Norway House Fire Department after thick smoke prevented officers from attempting to enter the house at about 5:30 a.m.

RCMP said a 16-year-old boy had earlier helped his grandmother out of the house.

The man was in stable condition in the Norway House Hospital, before being sent to Winnipeg's Health Sciences Centre by air ambulance.

The cause of the fire is not known and it is being investigated by the Office of the Fire Commissioner.
