Special drywall halts spread of Tuxedo fire

Firefighting crews fought a blaze at 410 Park Blvd. late this afternoon.

Just before 6 p.m., the homeowner called in a garage fire to the fire department.

The fire did not spread to the house, and there no injuries in the blaze.

Platoon Chief Stephen Sumka said the garage had fireguard drywall — a special kind of drywall meant to prevent the spread of fire to the house, and it worked in this case.
