The deep freeze continues for Southern Manitoba.
According to Environment Canada, an Arctic ridge of high pressure remains the story for today and the week ahead. Much of the region remains well below normal temperatures, with parts of Westman under a wind chill advisory this morning.
Wind chill in the Brandon, Carberry and Treherne areas is at or below the -40 C mark. Frostbite on exposed skin may occur in less than 10 minutes.
For Winnipeg, today’s forecast is cold. Sunny skies will make up most of the day, with high reaching -23 C (wind chill -39 C). Tonight’s low is -28 C.
Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any relief in sight. Temperatures are expected to hover around these marks for most of the week.
The normal high for this time of year is -9 C; the normal low is -19 C.
