Former Manitoba NDP cabinet minister Sam Uskiw, 77, died Saturday in hospital in Selkirk.
Uskiw was known for being a politician who believed that when it comes to politics, it’s not the race that counts, it’s the horse.
He made a career in politics by following the people he believed in, regardless of party stripe or affiliation.
The outspoken political activist served both the NDP and various conservative parties over his long career.
A memorial service for Uskiw is being held April 2 at 1 p.m. in the East Selkirk Hall.
