Former Tory chief of staff to lead HSC foundation

Tory Leader Hugh McFadyen’s chief of staff has been hired to head up the Health Sciences Centre Foundation.

Jonathon Lyon, a longtime Conservative party activist and McFadyen’s chief of staff for the last three years, will become the foundation’s new president and CEO.

HSC Foundation board chairman Eric Stefanson, also a prominent Tory and Manitoba’s finance minister in the Filmon government, made the announcement Tuesday. He noted that Lyon served on the foundation’s board from 2005 to 2009.

McFadyen is stepping down as leader as soon as a new leader is chosen this fall. So far, it appears former MP Brian Pallister will be acclaimed, and it’s expected he’ll bring in his own legislative staff.
