Four charged with drugs, weapons offences after weekend traffic stop

Four people were arrested and detained on numerous charges with drugs, cash and weapons seized after Winnipeg Police conducted a traffic stop at Salter Street and Flora Avenue Sunday at 9:50 a.m.

Police stopped a Pontiac Grand Am after observing a number of traffic offences and, after a search of the vehicle, seized 58 grams of marijuana, 10 grams of cocaine, eight grams of methamphetamine, three 1/4 gram rocks of crack cocaine, three grams of mushrooms (psilocybin), four Tylenol pills, a taser, bear spray, two 12-gauge shotgun shells, five cell phones, $975 in Canadian currency and break-in instruments. The drugs had an estimated total street value of over $3,000.

James Johnston, 34, Terri Sawyer, 27, Anthony Chartrand, 28, and Jimmy Temchuk, 27, have been charged with a total of 65 drug and weapon offences. Temchuk, the driver, has also been charged with several Highway Traffic Act offences.
