Garbage bin fire causes $50,000 damage

A fire in a garbage bin downtown forced the evacuation of a building early this morning and caused $50,000 in smoke and fire damage to the building.

The fire was reported at about 2:50 a.m. in the 200 block of Garry Street.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.

The arson strike force is investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6813 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
