Gas bar, restaurant robbed: police

A gas bar and a restaurant were robbed in separate incidents on Saturday night.

Winnipeg police said today a man walked into a gas bar in the 300 block of Wardlaw Avenue at 6:10 p.m.

Police said the man, who tried to hide his identity, demanded cash from a male employee before fleeing.

There were no injuries.

The suspect is described as white, about 5-8, medium build, blond hair and blue eyes.

Later, at about 9:50 p.m., a man armed with a weapon entered a restaurant in the 1000 block of St. Mary's Road.

Police said the man fled with cash. There were no injuries.

The suspect is described as aboriginal, heavy build, about 220 to 250 lbs., and 20 to 26 years of age.

Police are asking anyone with information on either incident to call investigators at 204-986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
