Hanover School Division has allowed Steinbach student Evan Wiens to post promotional posters for a gay-straight alliance inside Steinbach Regional Secondary School.
Board chair Randy Hildebrand said in a statement released moments ago: ""A Gay/Straight Alliance may advertise events in a manner equivalent to their school’s existing student initiated groups.
"Hanover School Division will continue to work with our schools and our students to ensure safe learning environments for all."
HSD had previously not allowed Wiens to put up posters.
Hanover SD says it will comply with Bill 18 when the anti-bullying legislation becomes law this summer. One provision requires that schools receiving government funding accommodate any student who wishes to start a gay-straight alliance in the school.
