Instead of just singing Old MacDonald Had a Farm, kids can visit one today.

Sixty farms across the province have thrown open their gates for Manitoba's Open Farm Day.

The closest one to Winnipeg is Aurora Farm at 4265 Waverley St., south of the Brady Road landfill.

Alpaca, goats and horses mingle with people.

Owner Louise May said people will soon be picking their own free pumpkin.

"I'm hoping people get off consumerism and teach their kids to be more self-sufficient and natural," May said.

Other farms — and directions — can be found at www.openfarmday.ca

Admission is free and the are open until 5 p.m.
