Gibson tragedy, new stadium dominate FP video views in 2013

The Lisa Gibson tragedy dominated the Free Press multimedia department's top 10 most viewed videos list for 2013.

Three of our top 10 videos, including the top two spots, were part of our coverage of the police investigation into the deaths of Gibson's two children on July 24 and the ongoing search for the 32-year-old mother.

Our coverage of the opening of Investors Group Field also generated huge views, with two videos cracking the top 10: A unique time-lapse video of the season opener on June 27 and our exclusive tour of the team's new home facilities.

1. Police search for woman in relation to deceased children - July 24

Our first video of the scene on Coleridge Park Drive and subsequent police press conference.


2. Body recovered from Red River - July 27

Three days after the discovery of Gibson's children water rescue crews recover a body from the Red River, believed to be that of Lisa Gibson.


3. Susan Griffiths before she leaves to die - April 12, 2013

Susan Griffiths said goodbye to her family in early April before leaving for Switzerland to end her life. She wrote a letter to MPs telling them of her decision and imploring them to reconsider legalizing doctor-assisted suicide. Griffiths died on April 25.


4. Raw video: Woman allegedly resists arrest at The Forks - July 2

In this video from Facebook, a crowd cheers when a woman was pulled out of her car and arrested at the Forks on Canada Day. The 20-year-old woman was accused of striking a young child with her car, deliberately bumping the kid's irate father with the same vehicle, then biting a police officer attempting to arrest her. Warning: Objectionable language


5.  Timelapse: Investors Group Field Home Opener - June 27

Multimedia editor Melissa Tait, with the help of several other members of the Free Press photo department, produced this stunning time-lapse video of the Blue Bomber season-opening game.


6. Police Air 1 footage shows dramatic capture of suspect - September 6

Portions of a dramatic police video, which shows the pursuit and capture of a Winnipeg kidnapping and sexual assault suspect that was publicly released by a judge.


7. Police identify body pulled from river as Lisa Gibson - July 28

Constable Eric Hofley confirms the body recovered from the Red River was Lisa Gibson.

Our exclusive tour of the Bombers' front office, lockeroom, weight rooms, equipment rooms and athletic therapy areas at Investors Group Field.


9. Homicide unit investigating Roblin Boulevard incident - May 17

Winnipeg Police Cst. Jason Michalyshen updates media on homicide investigation. The incident turned out to be a double-homicide and a 44-year-old man was charged.


10. Ron Burgundy roars into Winnipeg - December 1
