Sox defeat Goldeyes in season opener

  • Print

The Goldeyes played a pretty good game in their season opener in Texas, except for the first two innings.

After Ray Adler scored on a Reggie Abercrombie RBI double in the first inning, the Fish surrendered two runs in the bottom half of the inning and nine more in the second inning.

Winnipeg scrambled back to make the score somewhat respectable, scoring five of their own in the third inning. Abercrombie drove in Luis Alen with a single, Tyler Kuhn scored on an error, and then Casey Haerther cracked a double that scored three runs. Donnie Webb scored the final run for the Fish in the seventh, on a Ryan Pineda RBI single.

Sox took the win 11-7.

The Goldeyes and Sox square off again Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., abd Sunday at 6 p.m.
