Goldeyes' Rusch named pitcher of the month

  • Print

Winnipeg Goldeyes pitcher Matt Rusch has been named the American Association’s Rawlings Pitcher of the Month for June.

The 29-year-old appeared in six games over the stretch, registering a 4-1 record. In 42.2 innings, Rusch tallied 39 strikeouts while limiting his ERA to an impressive 1.90.

Rusch started off the month hot, winning the league’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week honours for the week ending June 10.

Rusch compliments these monthly stats with a season that has the righty leading all pitchers with a 2.29 ERA and most strikeouts with 52. In nine starts this year Rusch is 5-1, with the Goldeyes going 8-1 when he starts.

Winnipeg returns to Shaw Park tomorrow night to begin a 12-game homestand and four-game series against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
