Goldeyes announce 2014 schedule

  • Print

Winter hasn’t even started yet, but already Winnipeggers can start planning their next summer at the ballpark, as the Winnipeg Goldeyes released their 2014 schedule today.

The jewel of the 2014 season is the American Association All-Star Game, which is slated for Shaw Park on July 29.

Before that, the season will start much as the 2013 and 2012 campaigns did, with a lengthy road trip through Texas: four games in Amarillo starting on May 15, then three in Laredo, and then the Fish will wrap up the roadie with a three-game stand against the Lincoln, Nebraska Saltdogs before coming home.

The American Association plans the schedule that way to give a little leeway to wintery Winnipeg, where it isn’t unusual for snow to be falling over Shaw Park days around the time the season opens in mid-May.

The Goldeyes will host the Sioux City Explorers for their home opener on May 26.
