Goldeyes bring Osuna back to mound

  • Print

The Winnipeg Goldeyes are bringing a formerly wounded pitcher back into the fold, as they push into the second half of their season.

Southpaw hurler Edgar Osuna is coming back to the Fish after being off the roster for the first half of the season, the team announced on Monday. He was with the Goldeyes at training camp, and was the first Mexican player signed by the team. He was released before the season started after suffering a shoulder injury.

Now in his sixth pro season, Osuna came to Winnipeg after spending a season playing in the Mexican League, and went 4-2 with a 3.31 ERA in 11 starts. Through 115 appearances, including 82 starts, in his career, Osuna averaged 7.8 strikeouts and just two walks per nine innings.

Osuna is already pegged to get a start as the Fish continue their interleague Quebec road trip tonight, as they open a series against the Trois-Rivieres Aigles.
