Goldeyes land outfielder

  • Print

The Winnipeg Goldeyes are bringing in a new outfielder for the upcoming season, after making a trade with the Rockland Boulders of the CanAm League.

Ryan Scoma, 25, will join the Fish this season, in exchange for future considerations sent the Boulders' way. The left-handed outfielder played in 99 games with Rockland last season, hitting .310 with 13 home runs and 59 RBI.

Scoma is a former San Francisco Giants draft pick who played three seasons in that team's organization. He was also teammates with Goldeyes outfielder Josh Mazzola during that time.

The addition inches the Goldeyes closer to a full roster before training camp starts on May 4. The team now has 24 players signed for 2013, including 14 pitchers and 10 position players. The American Association caps rosters at 28 players.
