Goldeyes sweep Amarillo for second time
The Winnipeg Goldeyes' David Narodowski, the only Canadian on the team, scored on a wild pitch in the 10th inning to lift the Goldeyes (9-3) to a 3-2 win over the Amarillo Sox (6-7) on Thursday at Shaw Park.
The game was played before a crowd of 6,017 which was mostly local schoolchildren who were able to attend the game due to the 11 a.m. start.
Winnipeg’s relief pitcher Chris Kaminski got his first win while Andrew Bowman, who threw two wild pitches to end the game, took the loss for Amarillo.
The Goldeyes swept Amarillo for the second time this season as the Sox have lost seven games and six of them have been to the Goldeyes. Winnipeg beat the Sox three straight at Amarillo National Bank Sox Stadium in Texas to open the season on May 18-20.
The Goldeyes will now meet the Gary SouthShore RailCats Friday at 7 with southpaw Fabian Williamson (0-2, 8.31) expected to get the start while righty Kyle Wilson (0-1, 3.86) is expected for Gary. The second in the three-game set with Gary will be Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
Third baseman Amos Ramon led the Goldeyes with three hits and a run scored in the third inning. Yurendell de Caster, who moved from first to second base in Thursday's game, had a sac fly to score Chris Roberson for Winnipeg's second run in the sixth.
Amarillo tied the game on an eighth-inning solo home run by third baseman Van Pope.
