Goldeyes take series against Trois-Rivières with 7-5 win

  • Print

The Winnipeg Goldeyes may have turned a corner on their 10-game road trip. After losing four of their first five on the trek, they beat the Trois-Rivières Aigles 12-2 Tuesday.

And now for the first time since early July, the Goldeyes have strung together back-to-back wins, scoring five runs in the third inning and beating the Aigles 7-5 Wednesday in Trois-Rivières.

With two out in the third, Ray Sadler had an RBI double before Ryan Scoma nabbed an RBI single. Josh Mazzola then stepped in and cracked a three-run homer, blowing the game wide open for the Fish.

The Aigles attempted a comeback but couldn't string enough runs together in time.

The win sees the Goldeyes come out on top of the three-game series, but sitting seven games back of the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, who lead the American Association's North Division.

The Goldeyes start a three-game series against the Rockland Boulders tomorrow night in Pomona, New York. The pre-game show with Paul Edmonds on TSN 1290 begins at 5:30 p.m.
