Goldeyes to visit four hockey communities

The Winnipeg Goldeyes baseball club has joined forces with four Manitoba Junior Hockey League teams - the Portage Terriers, the Selkirk Steelers, the Steinbach Pistons and the Winkler Flyers - for a four-night tour that will see the Goldeyes visit each community.

The Goldeyes will visit Steinbach on Friday, Selkirk on Jan. 27, Portage la Prairie on Feb. 17 and Winkler on Feb. 18.

At each arena, fans will be able to meet and visit with Goldeyes’ third baseman Amos Ramon and mascot Goldie. Fans will be able to enter a draw to win a Goldeyes prize package, which includes tickets for games in the upcoming 2012 American Association season and team merchandise.

"While the Goldeyes provide entertainment to thousands of fans during the summer, junior hockey in these four communities provide entertainment to thousands of fans during the winter," said Goldeyes general manager Andrew Collier in a media release.

"Our organization is thrilled to visit Portage, Selkirk, Steinbach and Winkler and encourage fans to support their local team and visit us at one of the four games."

Each of the four teams will receive a Skysuite to a Goldeyes game this season, which will be auctioned off by the teams at a later date.
