Good news, bad news in the forecast

Want the good news first?

Single-digit minus highs all week, says Environment Canada, the sun will peek through on Tuesday and should be around all day Wednesday.

Now brace for the bad news.

After today’s cloud and a high of -3 C, we’re getting two centimetres of snow overnight, and could get five to 10 cm on Monday. The high Monday will be -7C.

If you’re thinking of driving west or south, don’t.

Even if you get on the road now, you’re just driving into the teeth of some really seriously bad snow.

Environment Canada says that Brandon will get up to 25 cm by tomorrow, and has issued a winter storm warning for southern Saskatchewan.

And the U.S. National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather alert for North Dakota, where Grand Forks could get up to 33 cm and Fargo 28 cm.

You could always go east --- Kenora expects only a little light snow and flurries.
