Gordon Bell field an activism success story: urban studies institute

Grass roots activists can still change the world -- or, at the very least, get a green field on Portage Avenue for Gordon Bell High School.

The University of Winnipeg’s Institute of Urban Studies launched a new series of booklets on successful inner-city activism by telling the story of students and the community overcoming governments, the media, and crown corporations to get Gordon Bell a long-awaited green field.

"It’s a story of how the community came together to rally around an issue that was very meaningful," Institute of Urban Studies director Jino Distasio told a gathering at U of W today.
