  • Print

A single vehicle collision Monday night has claimed the life of a 16-year-old girl.

At approximately 9 p.m., Morris RCMP and local emergency services were dispatched to the scene of an accident on Provincial Road 218, a mile east of Emerson. A vehicle driving west had lost control and ended up in a ditch.

The 16-year-old girl, from Gretna, was pulled from the vehicle and taken to a Winnipeg hospital in critical condition. She died this morning.

Her name will not be released.

The 16-year-old male driver, from Emerson, received treatment for minor injuries.

Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash. RCMP continue to investigate.
