Group protests changes to marijuana regulations

About a dozen bundled-up people carried signs in front of the office of MP Shelly Glover (Saint Boniface) to protest changes to the Marijuana Medical Access Regulations (MMAR).

The protesters gathered around 11 a.m., carrying signs with phrases such as "Health Canada's Most Indecent Proposal." One protester chanted "This is prohibition."

Glover met with protest organizer Kevin Hueman around 11:30 a.m. She said she won't change her stance on the regulation changes, but was happy to discuss the issue with Hueman.

"This is a really important discussion," she said. "(Hueman) learned some things about the program he didn't know before."

Hueman said he intends to continue protesting them.

The protest is one of three tentatively scheduled throughout the year, with the next one planned for October, according to Hueman.
