HMCS Chippawa Band releases CD tonight

The HMCS Chippawa Band will release a new CD at the Ellice Theatre tonight.

The Ellice Theatre, at 587 Ellice Ave., will host a release party for the CD of the Band of her Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS Chippawa) at 8:00 p.m.

The CD, called Swing Service, was produced by the Friends of the Naval Museum of Manitoba.

The band of the HMCS Chippawa will perform sets during the concert showcasing different ensembles and focusing on big band swing era music. The band will be joined by the University of Manitoba Swing Dance Club who will look the part in 1930s-style clothes.
