Halloween showers forecast

Somehow, dressing up as a zombie, Spider-man or black cat isn’t nearly as effective if your mom has made you carry an umbrella.

Sadly, that could be the reality for countless trick-or-treaters this Halloween as today’s forecast calls for clouds and a few showers beginning this afternoon and a high of 6C. There’s a 60 per cent chance that precipitation could change to flurries and freezing drizzle by the time the first cries of "Halloween apples!" are heard around town.

The kids might need their caloric injections to brave the cooler-than-average temperatures to follow for the rest of the week. Environment Canada is calling for more clouds, winds northwest at 20 km/h and a high of 0C on Thursday and a mix of sun and cloud with a 40 per cent chance of flurries and the same high on Friday.

The weekend will be slightly below normal under largely sunny skies and highs of 1C both Saturday and Sunday but Monday will be positively balmy with a forecast high of 7C.

The average high for this time of year is 4C.
