One injured in Trans-Canada Highway crash

One person was taken to hospital from the scene of a crash involving a motorcycle and truck pulling a trailer about noon Monday on the Trans-Canada Highway, just east of the city.

RCMP briefly closed the eastbound Trans-Canada Highway at Lorette Monday afternoon after a collision just east of the junction with provincial highway 207.

At about 1:10 p.m., the Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS) helicopter landed on the Trans-Canada Highway and helped treat the injured person.

A ground ambulance was also on the scene, near Hwy. 207 at Deacon’s Corner.

A pickup truck hauling a camper trailer blocked part of an access road and the eastbound lane. A crumpled motorcycle lay on its side near the driver's side of the pickup.

RCMP forensic investigators took measurements on both eastbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway for close to a half hour around 2 p.m. RCMP from Selkirk were assisting investigators from Winnipeg for over an hour after the collision.
