Helicopter, canine unit used to find robbery suspect

A 19-year-old man suspected of pulling off an armed robbery of a restaurant late Wednesday night in Winnipeg couldn’t evade a manhunt by city police, including the helicopter unit.

The restaurant, located in the 1400 block of Main Street, was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash by an armed man who was concealing his identity around 11 p.m.

Police swooped in, with general patrol officers, the canine unit and the AIR1 helicopter, and a suspect was arrested near Salter Street and Cathedral Avenue.

Clarence Dean Huntinghawk has been charged with several offences and is being detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
