Winnipeg’s largest Remembrance Day service will again be held indoors at the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg.
The public is welcome to attend Monday’s event, hosted annually by the Joint Veterans Association of Manitoba and the Canadian Forces. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and the public is asked to be seated by 10 a.m. for the service, which will begin at 10:15 a.m.
Other indoor services are being held at Minto Armoury and Deer Lodge Centre and many branches of the Royal Canadian Legion. Attendees are asked to arrive and be seated by 10:30 a.m. The Rockwood Army Navy & Air Force Veterans in Canada unit (341 Wilton St.) will not have a ceremony but will be hosting a light lunch with events throughout the day. Pipes and drums will be playing at 3:30 p.m. and all are welcome.
In honour of Remembrance Day, all retail businesses in Manitoba must be closed between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. unless they sell or provide: prepared meals or goods and services connected to living accommodations, professional health services, veterinary services, medicine, gasoline, or services for emergency vehicle repairs. Banks and credit unions are closed Remembrance Day. Most shopping malls, grocery and big-box stores will open at 1 p.m.
Winnipeg Transit buses will operate on a Sunday schedule. As in previous years, Winnipeg Transit will observe a moment of silence at 11 a.m. Monday in honour of Remembrance Day. Bus drivers will stop their buses at safe locations to recognize one minute of silence.
For the first time Monday, the route/destination signs on all buses have been programmed to display "LEST WE FORGET" during the moment of silence.

There is no recycling, garbage or yard-waste collection at single-family homes or apartments on Monday. Collection will be one day later for all customers, for the week of Nov. 11 only. The Brady Road landfill will be closed Monday.
All City of Winnipeg leisure centres and swimming pools will be closed Monday, with the exception of the Pan Am Pool and the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex. The Pan Am Pool will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex will be open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
All Winnipeg public libraries and animal services offices will be closed Monday.
Cemetery grounds at Brookside, St. Vital and Transcona cemeteries will be open for visitation from dawn till dusk during the Remembrance Day weekend, including Monday.
