Hey zombies: sidewalks only, please

Zombies may be looking for brains to eat, but they better find them on the sidewalk.

Winnipeg police are asking people participating in tonight’s annual Zombie Walk to stay off streets and walk on sidewalks.

"Last year there were a number of close calls involving persons in this walk who ventured haphazardly onto the streets oblivious to the potential danger," police said in a statement.

"In addition, there were many children who participated, which added to the potential for a tragic and serious incident.

"We would like to avoid any tragedy."

The Zombie Walk begins at The Forks at 8 p.m., and is planned to go down Main Street, to Broadway and end at the Legislature.

Zombies are also asked to bring a non-perishable food item for Winnipeg Harvest and can have photos taken for $2, which will go to Winnipeg Harvest.
