Thunderstorms racing across Manitoba again

Like we didn’t get enough on Sunday.

Environment Canada covered much of southwestern Manitoba map and the Interlake in red and yellow warnings and watches for more thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

Environment Canada issued a thunderstorm warning just before 3 p.m. for parts of western Manitoba and parts of the Interlake, including Dauphin, Roblin and Winnipegosis, Ste. Rose du Lac, McCreary, Alonsa and Gladstone.

Meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm approximately 20 km southwest of Winnipegosis near Zelana. This severe thunderstorm is moving east-southeast at 20 km/h. The main threats from this thunderstorm include quarter-sized hail, heavy rain in excess of 50 mm and wind gusts near 90 km/h.

A weather watch for thunderstorms, including hail, is in place for all of south-western Manitoba and parts of the Interlake from Grand Rapids in the north to Selkirk, Gimli and Stonewall to the south.
