All burning permits in eastern Manitoba and the Interlake have been cancelled, and no new permits will be issued while dry conditions and high temperatures continue over the coming days.
Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship stated in a release that campfires will still be allowed in "enclosed, approved firepits."
Hikers, fishers, and outdoor enthusiasts are being warned to encouraged to be cautious while in the wilderness, due to the increased fire risk that comes with their presence. ATV riders are also being asked to carry a small shovel, axe and fire-extinguisher with their vehicle at all times.
The weekend forecast call for temperatures in the 30s with thundershowers on Saturday and sunny skies on Sunday.
