Two people were hurt in a crash on the Trans-Canada Highway that tied up traffic near Headingley Thursday morning.
Around 5:20 a.m., police responded to a vehicle collision involving a pickup truck (a Chevrolet Silverado) and a semi trailer. Police said the semi trailer rear-ended the truck, which sent the Silverado spinning. Both vehicles were driving eastbound down Portage Avenue and the Silverado was stopped at a red light.
The driver of the semi was a 27-year-old man from Winnipeg, while the occupants of the pickup were in their sixties and from Alberta, said Const. Jason Michalyshen.
The occupants of the Silverado both sustained serious injuries and had to be rushed to hospital. Michalyshen said they are both in stable condition.
Charges have not been made in accordance with the case and members of the Central Traffic Unit are investigating the crash’s cause.
