Ice Edge plans to bring ECHL hockey team to Thunder Bay

Ice Edge Holdings Inc. will hold a press conference in Thunder Bay on Monday to announce their plans to bring an East Coast Hockey League team to the city on the shores of Lake Superior.

ECHL commissioner Brian McKenna is expected to be in Thunder Bay to show the league's interest in the city of just over 100,000.

Ice Edge has said if a new hockey rink is built in Thunder Bay, they would be interested in bringing a pro team to the city.

Thunder Bay has previously had pro hockey with an entry in the Colonial Hockey League. The Thunder Bay Senators were the secondary affiliate of the NHL's Ottawa Senators and McKenna was an executive with the NHL organization.
